The construction sector in Turkey is one of the most important sectors of the economy. In 2023, the share of the construction sector in gross domestic product (GDP) was 4.7 per cent. The construction sector is in a position to demand goods and services produced by approximately 250 sub-sectors. Therefore, the growth of the construction sector causes these sub-sectors to grow and create employment. In 2023, direct employment in the construction sector reached 1.8 million people. This employment is one of the most important contributions of the construction sector to the national economy. The construction sector is a locomotive sector for the Turkish economy. The growth of the construction sector contributes significantly to the growth and development of the Turkish economy.
