Skanska has announced a major contract with Sogn og Fjordane Energi (SFE) to construct the new Øksenelvane Hydroelectric Power Plant in Bremanger municipality, Norway. The contract, valued at NOK 434 million (approximately SEK 430 million), will be included in Skanska’s Nordic order bookings for Q4 2024.
The project involves constructing a completely new power plant to replace the existing facility, which has been operational for over 70 years and now requires significant rehabilitation. The scope of work includes building a new intake, water tunnels, and an underground power station.
Once completed, the Øksenelvane power plant will generate 171 GWh annually, enough to power approximately 10,000 households with clean, renewable energy.
"We are proud to contribute to sustainable energy solutions in Norway," said a Skanska spokesperson. "This project aligns with our commitment to environmental responsibility while leveraging our expertise in complex infrastructure development."
Construction is slated to begin in April 2025, with the power plant expected to be operational by March 2028.
This marks another milestone for Skanska as it continues to deliver innovative and sustainable infrastructure solutions.
